Captain David J. Caldwell
Captain David J. Caldwell is a Director and co-founder of Northern Atlantic Dive Expeditions, Inc.
Dave is co-captain of the R/V GAUNTLET and holds a commercial 100 Ton Near-Coastal Master's license. Dave is a NAUI Technical Diving Instructor, PADI Master Diver Trainer and Emergency First Responder Instructor. Dave is also a member of the Boston Sea Rovers. Dave began diving in 1981 and started working in the dive industry when he was big enough to carry dive gear. Dave's career in the scuba industry evolved after graduating from Manchester High School in 1987 and attending the University of Southern Maine where he studied business management. During the winter of 1987-88, Dave worked in Grenada at the HMC Dive Center where he served as a water sports manager, conducting guided dives on the Bianca C. Dave previously owned and operated Northeast Scuba in Danvers, MA. During his tenor there, Dave operated a full-service, PADI 5-Star IDC training facility and retail store.
In the marine industry, Dave previously worked as a boating safety instructor for Boatwise, Inc. where he conducted classroom and on-board instruction and education. Presently, Dave works for ITT Industries Rule/Jabsco Worldwide as a Product Specialist for all marine products. In addition to instructor-level certifications, Dave holds a full-cave certification through IANTD, NSS-CDS and NACD as well as a PRISM CCR certification through NAUI. Dave has lead and/or participated in expeditions to notable wrecks such as the Empress of Ireland, Bianca C, Andrea Doria, U-869, RMS Republic, North American, and USS YF-415 among others. Email Dave
