In the days of piracy on the high seas, a "privateer" was known as a pirate officially sanctioned by a national power. These privateers had received a "Letter of Marque" from a government, which gave them amnesty from piracy laws as long as the ships plundered were of an enemy nation. A privateer was sort of a legitimate pirate.

Well, unfortunately, times have changed and even a Letter of Marque will not permit plundering of ships (or shipwrecks) anymore. But we’ve found a way you can still enjoy the benefits of being a privateer...

With your Letter of Marque, instead of paying the regular charter rate, GAUNTLET Privateers will pay a discounted rate on all local half day charters – there’s no limit to how many local half day charters you can get a discount on and all charters count towards your Letter of Marque for the following year!
