Captain Heather L. Knowles

 

Captain Heather L. Knowles is the President and co-founder of Northern Atlantic Dive Expeditions, Inc.

Heather is co-captain of the R/V GAUNTLET and is licensed to operate commercial vessels on a 100 Ton Near-Coastal Master's license.  Heather is a NAUI Technical Diving Instructor and also holds an Emergency First Responder Instructor rating through PADI.  Heather is a member of the Boston Sea Rovers. 

Heather began diving in 1987 and is originally from Marblehead, MA.  She graduated from the Pingree School in South Hamilton, MA and subsequently graduated with a degree in Biochemistry from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME.  Presently, Heather is employed by a pharmaceutical company in Cambridge, MA where she works in clinical cancer research. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Among her many interests and accomplishments, Heather enjoys studying maritime history as well as searching for and exploring uncharted shipwrecks and waters.  In addition to instructor-level certifications, Heather holds a full-cave certification through NSS-CDS and NACD as well as a PRISM CCR certification through NAUI. 

Heather has lead and/or participated in expeditions to notable wrecks such as the Empress of Ireland, Bianca C, Andrea Doria, U-869, RMS Republic, North American, and USS YF-415 among others.
